UNITY HOUSE

Unity House was purchased in 1919 by the ILGWA union from Forest Park, the former resort, and offered all the amenities of a luxury family resort at affordable prices for its employees. Union workers flocked from Baltimore, Newark, New York, and Philadelphia for a relaxing summer vacation that sprawled over a 750 acre property. On one occasion, Eleanor Roosevelt spoke in the 1100 seat theater.  The resort closed in 1989.

PENN HILLS RESORTS

Analomink, PA
Opened in 1944 as a tavern and grew into a honeymoon & couples haven with over 100 rooms available. Notably, the first poconos resort to offer an indoor ice skating rink. It's popularity peaked in the 1970s, offering couples all inclusive packages and the famous heart shaped tubs. This resort closed in 2009, disrepair and a good million in debt. 

Lucrettia Mott Cottage

In 1826, Pennsylvania Quakers built the House of Refuse, which was later named Sleighton School for Girls, then Sleighton Farm School, and finally, Sleighton School. Originally a reform school for young women, the school went co-ed in 1975. By the end of it's run, the male population grew to 55%.
The campus has been nominated as a historic site, but never given the official title. Some of these historic buildings were designed by Cope and Stewardson who also designed educational buildings at Princeton, Bryn Mawr, and the University of Pennsylvania. 

In 1998, the financial disparities of the school were announced and the school closed the doors in 2001. After 12 years of abandonment and vandalism the campus remains a solid and yet eerie glimpse into the past.

This park opened in 1902, a favorite for Philadelphians,who would travel by train probably four hours to arrive at this park.
Featured December 2010 on "American Pickers" (History Channel), this park has endured several changes of ownership, flood damage, misappropriations of funds, scandals, and government liens. 
With extensive damage, the park will probably never re-open. 

Lancaster, PA. 
This park opened in the late 1890's and closed in 1979. Most of the remains surround the Rocky Springs Park Bed & Breakfast, originally known as "The Mansion".  The 1928 Wildcat Train cars remain on the grounds, while the carousel undergoes renovations to become a wedding reception hall.
